PURPOSE:To provide a toothpaste composition having hemostatic activity and effective to the paradentosis, composed of aluminum hydroxide as main adrasive material, tannic acid as a drug component, and ascorbic acid and a carboxylic acid such as citric acid as the stabilizing agent for the tannic acid. CONSTITUTION:A composition composed of (A) aluminum hydroxide as main abrasive material, (B) 0.5-2.0wt% of tannic acid as drug component having hemostatic activity, (C) 0.05-0.5wt% of ascorbic acid and 0.05-1.0wt% of a carboxylic acid such as citric acid, gluconic acid, succinic acid, tartaric acid, lactic acid, malic acid or oxalic acid (esp. citric acid or tartaric acid), as agents for stabilizing the tannic acid. The abrasive material and the stabilizing agents are effective to suppress the black discoloration of the toothpaste composition caused by the addition of the hemostatic tannic acid. |
