<p>Pumping device has a rotor immersed in a liquid. The rotor is driven by a shaft passing through the liquid surface supported in a set of bearings mounted in a support arm. The shaft is protected by a rotating sheath which extends well above the liquid surface and which is connected to the support arm via a roller bearing. A further tubular sheath protects this bearing against liquid spray. The inner sheath is mounted on the central shaft with flexible couplings to keep it centred. Used esp. for aeration or submerged pumping of corrosive effluent streams. The precise location and centering of the shaft not merely protects the bearings against corrosion but also reduces the mechanical damage due to vibration etc.</p> |
