The load carrying body of a trailer 12 is divided into two or more containers 1a, 1b by walls 3a, 3b at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. Each container is provided with a discharge device 4, 5 in the acute angles formed by the walls and can be tipped respectively by lifting devices 6, 7 about pivots 11 or 12 on the other container. The pivots 11, 12 are connected on each side by levers 10 which can be fixed relative to each container by pins insertable in holes 13, 14 respectively. Interlocks allow only one lifting device 6, 7 to operate at a time to tip its container to discharge it through the respective device 4, 5 adjacent the centre of the trailer. In a modification only one partition wall is provided and the body can be tipped by lifting devices about either end to discharge the container tipped towards its central discharge device. The arrangement allows the point of discharge to be 2.5-3 m. above the ground. |
