<p>PURPOSE:To impart good adhesiveness which does not cause any edge peeling between the undercoating layer and the photographic gelatine composition to be formed thereon by coating the water-base composition containing the copolymer composed of the specific monomers on a polyester substrate thereby forming the undercoating layer. CONSTITUTION:Glycidyl (meth)acrylate (a), hydroxy(meth)acrylate (b) containing alkyl groups of C2-4 and copolymerizable vinyl monomers (acrylic acid alkyl esters, styrenes, etc) (c) are emulsion-copolymerized at about 50-90 deg.C in the presence of a surfactant for emulsion polymerization such as anionic surfactant as well as water soluble polymerization initiator such as potassium sulfate in an aqueous medium, whereby the water-base composition composed of the component a; 30-70wt%, component b; 3-45wt%, component c; 0-67wt% is obtained. Thence, the abovementioned composition is coated on a polyester substrate, whereby the undercoating layer of about 0.05-5g(solid component)/m<2> is formed.</p> |
