<p>The rotary vane pump, which can reverse the direction of fluid flow, has a cylindrical housing (1). A rotor (2) inside the housing is composed of segments attached by spokes to a hub mounted on a shaft (5). Radial vanes with cylindrical guides pass between the rotor segments and are supported on a central tube. The rotor shaft is mounted eccentrically with respect to the axis of the housing (1) but the shaft (5) can be displaced radially to change the direction of this eccentricity so that the direction of flow through the pump can be reversed by reversing the direction of rotation.</p> |
