<p>An open-end spinning device with a moving fibre collecting surface from which a yarn is drawn in a direction perpendicular to the direction of movement, has a fibre-transfer tube which is so oriented that the fibres are delivered to the collecting surface in a direction which is inclined to the yarn doffing direction, and having a component of motion opposite to this direction. In the vicinity of the collecting surface the air-flow in the fibre transfer tube is modified to divert at least a proportion of the fibres approaching the surface into a direction which is essentially parallel to the doffing direction. The fibres are deposited on the collecting surface more nearly parallel to the doffing direction, giving a stronger, higher-quality yarn.</p> |
