The water jet drive or propulsion system is for boats. The jet is created by a turbine whose central axis is vertical. The turbine positioned as an extension to the stern of the board (3) and draws in water through its centre (2). The jet size is defined by the opening in a vertical casing (8) spiraled around the turbine blade plates (10). The blades are welded between an upper disc (7) and a lower annulus (11) drive being via a vertical shaft (6) running in bearings to the upper disc. The drive shaft housing (5) is braced against the stern of the boat and is integral with the turbine outer horizontal frame (41) which is further braced, the frame spacing being defined by the spiral turbine wall.
