<p>The connector is for cables used with heavy batteries such as lead acid types having lug or pillar style terminals. The connector has as snap action removing the need for a bolt as in orthodox types to tighten the connection. Connection is by the use of a metal strip (2) bent around to follow the battery terminal (1) profile, one end (4) of the strip being continued to form a crimp connection for the incoming cable (5) and the other extended and bent around into a comparatively small single turn loop (8) bearing against the strip section between the cable crimp and the pillar loop. Snap action is provided by a further strip (11) approximately following the connector profile and articulated within a slot (10) on the main strip. This clamps the connector by working against a lever (13) pivoted on itself (15) and bearing on the connector strip.</p> |
