Composite seals for joints in cellars made from prefabricated sections - involving flexible foam seals coated with binder resin

Seals for joints in prefabricated cellars or vaults involve a combination of hardenable mastics and of flexible compressible seals. Pref. the seals are of flexible closed-cell foam coated with a hardenable binder resin. Opt. the foams are pre-compressed and impregnated with a chlorinated paraffinic material. For supporting a roof panel, a single seal is used, located in a channel on the underside of the panel. For supporting the edges of superimposed wall sections a combination of a flat seal and an oblique seal is used, with the degree of compression of the flat seal being limited by narrow lands on the wall interfaces. The composite seals maintain a hermetic seal, with dielectric properties used to suppress capillary action across the joints.
