<p>A chassis which is symmetrical relatively to a vertical lengthways extending plane, supports a machine for anchoring conduits on the seabed. The equipment includes also two endless tracks resting on the seabed, supporting the chassis, and arranged to move on each side of the pipeline to be anchored; two driving motors, each of which is connected to a transmission for an endless track, for driving it under controlled power; two lateral drilling mechanisms which can be made to drive one of a pair of piles into the seabed when the motors are stopped, for anchoring; the piles of each pair being joined by a strap stretched across the pipeline, so as to stp any sideways motion; a guide arm pivoting above and on the chassis, around vertical axis at least, and extending in the direction of motion; a detector at the free extremity of the guiding arm for maintaining it vertically above the conduit; a directional control circuit responding to deviations in the arm so as to reduce the power input of the one motor relatively to the other. Used for anchoring of pipelines on the sea bed automatically, efficiently and quickly.</p> |
