<p>The ink jet printer has two series of parallel jets controlled by a deflection field. The parallel jets (14, 16) are housed in a block carrying the printing ink and is located directly over the printing paper (10). The paper is fed at a controlled rate that is provided by closed loop operation using a comparator (20) to monitor the output of a tachometer (27). Character information from the computer is fed to a character generator (22) selector. Character signals in a form suited to the requirements of the printing head are provided by a buffer store (30) that receives information from a read only memory. The ink delivery is controlled by an electrical field that subjects conducting ink to a controlled deflector as it is delivered onto the moving paper.</p> |
