<p>A tyre is retreaded by buffing it to remove the old tread and to present rough evenly contained surface. An uncured bonding layer contg. parallel reinforcing strands extending at an angle, is wrapped around the surface and this is covered by a wrapped tread layer contg. angled parallel reinforcing strands of opposite hand to those of the bonding layer. The whole assembly is then conventionally cured. It is not necessary for the bonding layer and tread reinforcing strands to be of opposite hand but this is pref. The beet structure is effectively embedded in the bonding layer and tread layer and its separate application to the tread layer as in the prior art is avoided.</p> |
