The axial bearing, for a motor in e.g. household food mixer, has the end of the shaft deformed into a mushroom shape. The disc, on which the shaft rests, is either flat or concave and is coated with solid lubricant. A warm forming process is used to make the mushroom shaped end of the shaft. The required energy is generated by the friction of the shaft end with a hardmetal piece. The heat generated causes the end of the shaft to deform plastically into a recess in the piece having the required spherical shape.
