The reel has a main chassis (1), pulled behind a tractor (2, 3). A roll of plastic film (9) fits between mountings (10) on a separate roll holder (4) supported by the main chassis. The film is pulled off by wheels (12) contacting the ground. A larger wheel follows to puncture the film and insert a seed. A final roller compresses the soil and film. When the roll of plastic film is empty, it is replaced by sliding out the roll holder laterally. This holder is a subframe running on rollers (8) inside upper and lower rails (7) in the main chassis.
