<p>New herbicidal agents contain (a) carriers and/or other additives and (b), as active component, at least methylaminomethylphosphonic acid of formula CH3NHCH2P(O)(OH)2 (I) or its salt, ester a half-ester. (I) is a total or selective herbicide with post-emergence activity against dicotyledonous and monocotyledonous weeds (esp. deep-rooted perennial weeds) in crop plants. It is also suitable for use in combination with other herbicides. (I) and its salts and esters are well translocated, and foliar application gives good penetration of the root and tuber systems of weeds. Symptoms become evident 2-3 weeks after application, taking the form of severe chlorosis resulting in almost total destruction of the green parts of the plant.</p> |
