PURPOSE:The composite roll for continuous casting which is obtainable by securing a sleeve or padding layer made of heat-resisting steel onto the roll shaft having a cooling water hole at its center through shrinkage fit, etc. and which is free from bending and cracking owing to high temperature. CONSTITUTION:In the case of immediately rolling a continously cast slab or the like in succession, bending or cracking occurs owing to the high temperature of the slab because pinch rolls and guide rolls are not water cooled together with the slab. To prevent this, the abovementined roll is constructed by securing a sleeve 1 or padding layer 7 made of heat-resisting steel onto the outer side of a roll shaft 2 made of ordinary steel or low alloy steel provided with a cooling water hole 4 at its center through shrinkage fit, welding, etc. and cooling the roll from the inside. The heat-resisting steel used contains C; 0.2-0.6%, Si; 0.1-3%, Mn; 0.1-3%, Cr; 15-35%, Ni; 10-40%, Nb; 0.30-3% or further one or two or more kinds of Mo; 0.1-5%, W; 0.1-5%, N; 0.05-0.3% and the rest consisting of Fe. |
