LV high-power fuse with secondary solder fuse - shunts main fuse which is melted by heat in plastic casing of fuse

The LV HP fuse has a main fuse path and a secondary fuse path. The secondary fuse path opens when a given amount of heat is evolved by the fuse and thereby causes the main path to open. The secondary path (10) is located in the fuse casing separate from the space containing the main path (5). The fuse's casing is made of plastics. The secondary path consists of a solder bridge shunting the main path and located in a recess in the plastic casing such that the solder upon melting flows away into a reservoir (9, 9') irrespective of the position in which the fuse is fitted and thereby disconnects the two leads (11, 12) leading to the main path. The main path consists of a fusible conductor with a central constriction.
