A washing machine such as dishwashing machine 10 includes a dispenser 20 for introducing detergent into the machine. The dispenser consists of a sealable container 38 which is in communication with a water passage 42 by means of an aperture 46 formed through its wall. A liquid detergent is placed in the container. The viscosity of the detergent is such that it does not flow freely through the aperture into the water passage. However when water flows through the passage the detergent is entrained in the water and is thereby carried with the water into the wash chamber of the machine. <IMAGE> |
