Thee insulator (5) has prefabricated flared or shed elements (6) in the form of a screen. On the central interior of the sheds (6) there is a tubular projection (8) which has a chamber formed in its lower edge. Projector from each shed (6) is a tubular segment (7). When two insulators (5) are placed over each other the tubular segment (7) fits into the tubular projection (8) of the upper adjacent insulator (5). The tubular segments (7) of each insulator (5) have a relatively thin wall. Their internal dia. is much greater than the external dia. of the cable (2) and its terminal. The gap between the cable and the interior of the insulator (5) is filled with a poured insulant. The insulant penetrates into the joint between insulation to form a seal.
