PURPOSE:To prepare the title suspension capable of giving an aqueous coating material having improved coating performance, with excellent color and storage stability for a long time, by using a salt of an oligostyrene-sulfonic acid derivative as a dispersing agent. CONSTITUTION:A preliminarily formed polymer cake is finely dispersed in water with a salt of an oligostyrenesulfonic acid derivative of formula I: (R is H or 1- 10C alkyl group; M is Na<+>, K<+>, Li<+>, Cs<+>, NH4<+>, Ca<2+>, Mg<2+> or Zn<2+>; n is an integer 5-1,000; m is an integer 1-1,000 but not larger than n), as a dispersing agent by a colloid mill to give an aqueous suspension of formaldehyde polymer of good quality. The acid derivative may by a copolymer having two or more different R groups in one molecule. |
