PURPOSE:To obtain the high purity title compound useful as pesticides, in high selectivity, by the reaction of a dihalogenated compound with a phenol in the presence of a specific salt. CONSTITUTION:A phenol of formula I [R is H, formula II, or formula III (Y, Z, is H, CF3, halogen, alkyl, etc.)] and a dihalogenated compound of formula IV (R1 is H or alkyl; R2 is carboxy, hydroxymethyl, allyloxycarbonyl, carbamoyl, etc.; X1 is halogen; X2,3 are H or halogen) are made to react in the presence of at least one compound selected from the groups of benzyltrialkyl ammonium salts, benzyltrialkyl phosphonium salts, tetraalkyl ammonium salts and tetraalkyl phosphonium salts (for example; tributylethylammonium bromide) and an alkaline (earth) metal salt, to afford the objective compound of formula V [for example; 4-[4-(4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)phenoxy]-2-pentenoic acid salt]. |
