The radiator comprises a nest of parallel elongate heat exchange tubes in contact with the gas and the ambient cooling air. The gas flows freely through a vessel (1) between an inlet (2) and outlet branch (31) both sealed off from the ambient air. Each heat exchange tube is of capillary type, its vaporising section (4a) extending inside the vessel while its condensing section (4b) passes through the gas-tight seal in the vessel wall to the outside, where it is in contact with the cooling air. The heat exchange tubes preferably extend vertically in the upright standing vessel. The outer tube sections may be ribbed.
