<p>To prevent incorrect and hazardous entry into the opposite lane of motorways, or roads with separated carriageways, use is made of a composite barrier system. A steel frame unit is let into the road, with its top edge flush with the surface. The frame is covered by a steel plate, mounted to turn on hinges on the side facing the correct traffic direction. The plate is held upright by springs on the other side. Provision can be made to lock it in the depressed position.</p> |
