utilisation of soluble coal components - by joint distillation of ground coal with crude oil

The soluble components of coal are utilised by distilling them in conjunction with liquids such as crude oil or its fraction. The coal, pref. a grade which is low in inertinite and ash is dried, ground and mixed with the fluid. During the run with the crude oil, a part of the soluble part of the coal is dissolved and forms a part of the fractions received. The unsoluble parts remain in the distillation residue. The crude oil can be replaced by one of the fractions from the joint oil/coal distillation. The disclosure quotes the published literature concerning the soluble parts of brown and hard coal which can thus be recovered.
