In a mixer of the type having a rotatable screw stirrer 12 which also rotates about the axis of a vessel 2, the lower end member 13 of the stirrer is forked and the two limbs 16, 17 retain a bearing ring 18 which embraces a bearing pin 9 coaxial with the stirrer 12 and rotating therewith about the vessel axis. As shown the vessel is frusto-conical and the limb 17 carries a scraper blade 20 diametrically opposite and similarly shaped to the lowest quarter turn 21 of the screw 12. The stirrer is supported by an upper arm (not depicted) fixed to the column 5 and is only laterally and not axially restrained by the pin 9. |
