The oscillator has two tuning-forks (10), which are housed in a leak-proof, rigid housing, and their roots (10a) are fixed rigidly to a bearer (3). Between the two prongs (10b, 10c) of each of the two tuning-forks is an electromagnet (11), one of which acts as an oscillation exciter, the other as an oscillation detector. The prongs (10b, 10c) of the two tuning-forks (10) are parallel to each other, and the outer surfaces of two prongs (10b) belonging to different tuning-forks (10) face each other, and are separated from each other by a small space. In operation, the tuning-forks (10) are coupled to each other by a gas which surrounds them. The oscillator makes it possible to create a band-pass filter with relatively low space requirement, low production cost, and a frequency response which is largely independent of the ambient temperature and the air pressure outside the housing. <IMAGE>
