Phosphonites (I) of formula R - P , where R is (ar)-alkyl, aryl, halogen, cyano- (aralkoxy-, aryloxy- or acykoxy-methyl; R' is an oxetane with the formula where R2 is defined as is R, and R' may also be 1-30C alkyl or 6-30C aryl; and A is a gp. of formula Thermoplastic compsns., stabilised against heat and hydrolysis by addn. of (I), are claimed.
