<p>Unreacted coal and ash particles are removed from the hydrogenated reactions of a coal liquefaction process by mixing the solids rich fraction with a solvent stream. This solvent is extracted from the coal gasification stream and has a b.pt. range of 149-228 degrees C. Two liq. streams are mixed upstream of a separator and sufficient settling time is allowed to the solids to ppte. out. This gives a clarified overflow and a concn. liquor run off contg. the solids. The solids rich stream is further passed to a separator and the residue stream passed through a vacuum stripper. Used with coal gasification processes. Arrangement gives a very much faster and more satisfactory system for sepg. the solids from the reactor prod. stream.</p> |
