The turnip harvester has a chassis supported on the ground by a wheel with a heading device and a digging device. The heading device can be brought from an operating position into a machine width reducing, road transport position by swivelling its support frame (or support arm). The heading device support frame (6a, 6b) is supported on a pivot shaft (7) which can be adjusted in inclination by a setting element (8). This pivot shaft (7) is held in a position where it slopes forward with its top end in the direction of travel of the machine.
