<p>PURPOSE:To constantly provide normal braking performance, by automatically regulating the lining in a ccordance with its state of abrasion. CONSTITUTION:A brake arm 8 equipped with a brake lining is connected with a solenoid 2 to produce a braking force in inverse proportion to the driving current flowing through a motor of an electric vehicle. As the vehicle speed is increased, the brake arm 8 is swung downward by the solenoid and the brake is released. A lining regulating mechanism fitted to an end of the arm is composed of keys A, B and an intermediate member C. When the arm is moved upward due to abrasion of the lining, the key A comes in touch with a pin P1 and as the key A is shifted downward, the intermediate body C is moved to the left, and the other key B is also shifted downward. Thus the relative position of the solenoid and arm is always kept constant, which can provide proper braking force.</p> |
