In walking mechanism for a soil working implement comprising support skids 3 attached to a frame (not shown), two walking skids 4 arranged on opposite sides of the frame outwardly of the support skids 3, and cross beams 7 slidably mounted transversely of the support skids 3, the cross beams 7 are arranged in pairs with the laterally outer ends of the cross beams of each pair attached to respective ones of the walking skids 4. Each cross beam 7 is slidably mounted in a box-shaped guide 6 and is displaceable therein by means of a respective one of hydraulic rams 20. Control means for the rams 20 is arranged so that the cross beams 7 of a pair are displaceable either both in a selected direction or in respective opposite directions, and so that those cross beams 7 of both pairs that are connected to one walking skid 4 are displaceable either both in a selected direction or in respective opposite directions. This provides for reduction of the distance between the skids 4 to a minimum for transportation purposes and for increasing the distance to obtain maximum stability, and enables the implement to step sideways and excute rotary movements. As described in the main patent, the mechanism comprises lifting cylinders 8, stirrups 11 carrying rollers 13, rails 12 attached to the walking skids 4, and displacing cylinders 16. More than four cross beams may be provided, either arranged in more than two pairs or in groups of more than two. |
