Protective cap for sports or airport use and which additional affords protection against cold and impact has a head shell and pivotally attached ear protecting pieces, the shell and the pieces being made of a thin polypropylene foil which is covered by a cloth fabric. The ear pieces may be held against the ears by a leaf spring which is received in a peripheral groove.
