Appts. for automatic insertion of warp yarns into healds has an endless chain whose runs extend parallel to guide rail and between yarn laying and transferring stations and which is provided with first yarn clamps (I) arranged at a distance (a) w.r.t. one another. Each clamp (I) is associated with a yarn holder downstream of the warp direction and carried by the chain on the side of the second yarn clamps (II) between the first yarn clamps and transfer hook. Clamps (II) are formed by a pair of plates or rails extending parallel to the warp yarns and the run of the chain. Clamps (II) further include a plate which is also parallel to the rails and co-operates with a rotary brush rotating about an axis parallel to the run. Rails plate and rotary brush extend between the stations. Insertion of warp yarns with high reliability and speed is possible.
