4-AMINO DERIVATIVES OF 2H-PYRAZOLO (3,4-B) PYRIDINE-5-CARBOXYLIC ACIDS AND ESTERS

Compounds of the formula wherein R is hydrogen or lower alkyl; R1 is lower alkyl; R9 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, are useful as intermediates in the preparation of compounds of the formula wherein R3 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, lower alkyl, di(lower alkyl)amino-lower alkylene or R3 and R4 taken together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached are piperazino or piperidino. The latter are useful as central nervous system depressants and as antiinflammatory agents.
