1284592 Metal-dielectric laminate UNION CARBIDE CORP 5 Dec 1969 [6 Dec 1968] 59458/69 Heading B5N [Also in Division H1] A laminate constituting an electrical capacitor is manufactured by assembling alternate metal sheets or strips and polysulphone, polycarbonate or polyester dielectric films, heating the assembly to the softening temperature but below the melting temperature of the dielectric material and pressing the layers together to bond them without the use of a separate bonding agent. The metal may be aluminium or stainless steel. The laminate may be formed continuously by passing the layers between heated rollers, preferably after a preheating step. |
