PREPARATION OF IMPROVED ELECTROCHROMIC DEVICES

In electrochromic devices having an electrochromic layer of persistent electrochromic material and an insulating layer of ion-conductive organic polymer resin in electrical contact between two electrode layers of opposite polarity, the organic polymer resin layer is applied by solution coating followed by evaporation of the solvent from the layer. The device prepared using this method has significantly improved cycle life as compared with devices in which the resin layer is applied by other methods.
