The dye bath uses a chlorohydrocarbon solvent (with a B.Pt. of 40 degrees C-150 degrees C, esp, tetra- and trichloroethylene and 1:1:1-trichloropropane). It contains (1) dye as (free) base or salt (adduct) e.g. with acid esters, (2) amine, amide, or amine oxide with at least 12C, and (3) 0.4 - 4%wt. water. It may also contain (4) 0.1 - 2%wt. emulsifier e.g. a polyethylene oxide, and (5) 0.1 - 2%wt. hydrotropic, organic solvent (particularly needed when using high concentration of dye as inorganic salt). |
