<p>Granular additive for polymers comprises (a) >=1 non-lubricant stabiliser consisting of organotin cpds. adsorbed onto an inert finely divided inorganic adsorbent; (b) >=1 lubricant stabiliser, (c) lubricants and (d) opt. extenders, pigments, etc. Allows the use of organotin stabilizers e.g. in (rigid) PVC compsns. as a replacement for the more toxic Pb, Ba and Cd stabilisers. The stabiliser compsns. is a granular solid which is easily metered into the compsn. to give the exact amt. of stabiliser required, and which disperses evenly and easily in (rigid) PVC compsns. The ratio organotin cpd(s) to adsorbent in component (a) is e.g. between 1:1 to saturation of the carrier with the Sn cpd. A pref. carrier is SiO2 with a particle size of is not >0.1 mm and a specific surface of >=100 m2/g. Component (a) pref. makes up 5-50 wt.% of the compsn.</p> |
