Polymer dispersions obtd. by dissolving >=0.3% of a polyamide, polyester or polyacetal in hexafluoroisopropyl alcohol, hexafluoroacetone hydrate, formic acid or mixts. of these (formic acid being used only with a polyamide) and dispersing in the soln. 1-10 times its vol. of a liquid chlorofluorocarbon of b.pt. 10-150 degrees C, m.pt. -40 to +125 degrees C an entropy of fusion of 10 cals/degree K/mole, a plastic flow index of >=0.1 g/10 min. at the reduced temp. of 0.96-0.99 and a water solubility of 2% at below the atmos. b.pt. of the lowest-boiling component of a polymer soln. On cooling the dispersions to the solidification temp. of the lowest melting chlorofluorocarbon present and removing the solvent and the chlorofluorocarbon microporous, cellular, open celled structures are obtd.
|
