A pocket typewriter has electronic processing of the text information fed in through the keys. It allows correction of errors inserted through the keys by an intermediate stage in the form of a storage of the symbols fed in. The electronic storage elements are arranged in line form with electron optical symbols reproduction. They can also have electromagnetic printouts. They are connected to the coded output of the key shield via a common input line. The stores are sequentially reactivated via a buffer store. The stored lines are printed out via an output unit. The stores are in the form of microchips and each storage element is easily replaceable via connecting pins and sockets. each storage element has a starting key (7) with a positioning light (8) which will indicate the status of the element.
