Liq. filter consists of a pressure vessel contg. a series of circular disc elements mounted on a hollow shaft. Slurry is pumped into the vessel, the filtrate passes through the elements and the cake is subsequently removed by rotating the elements to throw it off by centrifugal action. The slurry is sealed from the filtrate run off by a primary seal, held at a distance from the shaft. The shaft is surrounded by a collar which rotates with it and against which the seals are pressed. This reduces seal wear. The collar is clamped onto or held onto the shaft by a frictional coupling and is free to move both radially and axially. For use on disc filters with centrifugal cake discharge. Reduces wear on the shaft seal and thus the maintenance necessary on the filter.
