PURPOSE:To eliminate the complicatedness of a display surface, by using a display member also as one function recognition display member. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal display unit 2 has a time display mechanism, a display member 11 and recognition display members 8, 9 for displaying a day of the week and the forenoon or afternoon. The time display mechanism comprises an hour display section 4, a minute display section 6 and a second display section 7 each for indication by two digits and a colon display section 5 for separating the display sections 4, 6 from each other. Display is changed over for a timepiece system or a stopwatch system by an operating member 3. In the display for the timepiece system, two of elements of the display member 11 are selectively indicated by optical polarization to display a day of the week and the forenoon or afternoon. In the display for the stopwatch system, the elements of the display member 11 are sequentially indicated one by one by optical polarization to display one or more tenths second. The display member 11 is thus jointly used to indicate a day of the week, the forenoon, or afternoon and one or more tenths second. This results in attaining the purpose. |
