The two halves (1, 2) of a swivel joint in a torsion drive are joined by abolt (11). Between the mating faces of the former are fitted upper (3) and lower (4) bearing blocks. Oil ways (5, 6) run through one half (1) of the joint and the bearing blocks (3, 4) respectively. A selector valve, driven by the same shaft, ensures that, for clockwise rotation, those bearing surfaces (7, 10) under load are supplied with lubricant through their associated oil ways (5, 6). For anticlockwise rotation, the other bearing surfaces (8, 9) are supplied. The unloaded surfaces are supplied with a lesser amount, to prevent them becoming dry.
|
