Reusable plastics container with lid (which is also of plastics and reusable) is hermetically sealed by means of thermoplastics hot-melt adhesive. This is achieved by coating the rim of the container with adhesive and glueing the lid on. The adhesive is such that it has a greater affinity to the plastics of which the lid is made than to the material of the container, after the adhesive has set. As a result, when the container is opened and the lid lifted then the adhesive will peel off the container and be thus removed together with the re-usable lid. The container is pref. made of impact-resistant polystyrene, the material for the lid is pref. an acrylic copolymer and the hot-melt adhesive is an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer. |
