The vehicle (1) has a vehicle frame (3) and an auxiliary frame (7) which is arranged thereon. In addition, it is constructed with a jib (13) which rests near to the driver's cab (10) on supports (14, 15) which are arranged at a distance one behind the other, the said jib (13) having two or more telescopic sections (16, 17, 18). The outer telescopic section (18) receives at its free end a lifting device (20) which can be extended by means of the movable telescopic sections (17, 18) beyond the rear of the vehicle into an open side of the unitised unit (23) in order to engage on the unitised unit for the purpose of lifting and lowering it and to load the unitised unit on to the vehicle (1) or unload it therefrom. Since the jib (13) is a member subject to bending and must have a sufficiently static height and on the other hand the lifting device must be extended without friction through the opening into the unitised unit, the front support (14) of the jib (13) is constructed as a pivot bearing and the rear support (15) can be raised and lowered by several centimetres so that the jib (13) can be moved into a lowered oblique position in order to enter the unitised unit (23) and can be moved into the raised position in order to lift up the said unitised unit (23). <IMAGE>
