PURPOSE:To realize easily a broad-band large-diameter fiber transmission system by making a connection between not less than two optical fibers differing in material, structure or length and then by equalizing LP01 and LP11 modes in group delay while fibers satisfy a specific condition. CONSTITUTION:The N-number (N>=2) large-diameter optical fibers 1 and 2 differing in material, structure or length are connected 3 to realize a light transmission system. In this case, the material, structure and length of fibers and the wavelength of a light source are so determined that when the core diameter, core refractive index, difference in specific refraction, and length of the (i)-th fiber among the N-number fibers and the wavelength of the light source are denoted by (ai), (ni), (DELTAi), and (li), and (lambdaS), the formula will nearly be satisfied. |
