An article of a synthetic material which contains is not 1 additive(s) which hinder(s) the breakdown of the polymer, and which has at least a surface skin of polymer breakdown prods., is (a) comminuted, (b) mixed with is not 1 additive(s) which hinder(s) the breakdown of the polymer, and (c) formed again into an article. The synthetic material is partic. a polyolefin, esp. polyethylene or polypropylene, of PVC. The amt. of additive is not 0.001 (0.01-0.5)wt. %. The additive may be antioxidants or ultraviolet stabilisers, e.g. cresols, phenols, phosphites, propionates, benzophenones and benzotriazoles.
