The elastic laminar support panel (1) may be utilised to provide body-support in a bed-structure. The panel may be rectangular and its effective transverse elasticity is varied by providing transverse slots (3) at non-uniform centres. The spacing of the slots can be arranged to provide optimum support for a reposing human body i.e., the longitudinal curvature of the panel under load will conform to orthopaedic requirements. The length of the slots (3) may be between 60 and 85% of the width of the panel (1), and the interval (2) between slots (3) may be from 5 to 15% of their length. The panel may be cambered in transverse section.
