PURPOSE:To provide the subject head of an ink-on-demand type wherein a thin flowpath tubular body and a thin magnet-distortion tubular body are combined, and the magnet-distortion tubular body is deformed by the operation of a magnetic field to press and deform the flowpath tubular body whereby ink is injected at a low voltage driving operation. CONSTITUTION:With a thin flowpath tubular body 11 fabricated by swaging a stainless steel, for example, a two-layer thin magnetostriction tubular body 15 (as one layer the flowpath tubular body 11 may be used concurrently), at least one layer of which is a magnetostriction material (such as pure nickel or the like) is engaged and fixed. A drive signal is sent to a coil 16 to cause a current to flow through the coil 16 to form a magnetic field passing through the magnetostriction tubular body 15 and the magnetic member 19. The magnetostriction tubular body 15 is minutely deformed by the magnetic field, and the pressure chamber 13 of the flowpath tubular body 11 is deformed thereby to inject ink through the nozzle 12. When the current of the coil 16 is turned off, the deformed pressure chamber 13 is restored to its original state, and the ink is automatically replenished. |
