ROLL SUPPORTS

An apparatus for supporting the journal of a mill roll in a journal box carrying a bearing assembly in which the journal is disposed. The bearing assembly comprises a hydrostatic bearing interacting with a bearing which perform the dual function of retaining an arrangement of roller bearings during mill operation, and provide radial support for the roll during a resurfacing operation.
